What it does is that it allows Stars to keep more of its rake now, because the recreational players won't grind out bonuses and uses Stars' effective rakeback options. It's pretty lame if you ask me.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05732475618382431274noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8888632136608037390.post-47117714905625909772011-11-14T16:05:07.732-06:002011-11-14T16:05:07.732-06:00Good to hear buddyGood to hear buddyTommynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8888632136608037390.post-42580398432763935522011-06-16T03:01:01.223-05:002011-06-16T03:01:01.223-05:00nice to see that not only montreal has hockey riot...nice to see that not only montreal has hockey riots!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8888632136608037390.post-43484083405230643982011-06-15T23:31:24.654-05:002011-06-15T23:31:24.654-05:00From Montreal and happy that the Bruins won. From Montreal and happy that the Bruins won.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8888632136608037390.post-32648484715881427202011-06-15T18:15:37.344-05:002011-06-15T18:15:37.344-05:00Vancouver 2-1.Vancouver 2-1.Noelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10249244295756970936noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8888632136608037390.post-55202796240435522272011-06-13T13:36:45.072-05:002011-06-13T13:36:45.072-05:00Well that's impossible for two reasons: #1.) Would be perfect timing to incorporate some of that into your story if necessary.AKSharkynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8888632136608037390.post-49367114169064626422011-05-27T23:30:09.972-05:002011-05-27T23:30:09.972-05:00Thanks for the comeback duckslayer.
I am about ...Thanks for the comeback duckslayer.

I am about 90% sure i am moving so this is really relevant to me and probably many other pro's. Personally i am 4 months into the most expensive lease i have ever signed (San Francisco) and also recently bought all new furniture for the first time ever. Bad timing! I do pretty well playing tourneys and just gotta say F it i guess.

You are probably right that it would make more sense to have your ferry tickets ahead of time for the ferry. But at the same time i do know that it is extremely unlikely to be completely booked and you could possibly say you wanted to take your time in Canada and therefore didn't want to choose a departure date yet. Friends in Canada or whatever... Knowing the times of the next few ferries departing PR would be necessary.

I agree that wouldn't work often, but it might work great for that one time you are coming up with a truck load of stuff. Personally i have an Alaskan ID and have been on that ferry a number of times.

Right now the 4 places i'm considering are Malta, Canada, Costa Rica, and Thailand. Thailand scares me a bit since i don't think poker is legal there. Not enforced but not legal.

I lived for a year in '07 between CR and Panama but found the available internet connections to be poor for tournament play. Even in Panama City which reputedly may have been the best in Central America. Even had it go down HU once, frustrating to say the least. Especially against the quality of opponent i happened to be up against.

Please encourage any of the other CR pro's to post any info they can on this topic. I imagine to many it is the most important subject we can learn about right now.

Thanks again.AKSharkynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8888632136608037390.post-10913442024523592282011-05-27T10:48:45.718-05:002011-05-27T10:48:45.718-05:00Hey, thanks for the comment.
Basically I think it...Hey, thanks for the comment.

Basically I think it's best to say you're coming up to visit as an answer to "why are you coming up to Canada?"

It's just going to create less headaches overall and should minimize suspicions too. That being said, you should be able to back up where you're staying if you tell them this... like a priceline prepayment on hotel or something like that.

I do not personally know of anyone who has said they are moving there to play online poker. From what I've heard, it's the "moving there" that will get you into all sorts of headaches at the border... not the playing online poker.

The Alaska thing is a good idea but you'd need some type of prop or proof that you're headed there I would think, in order for that to work properly. Also that would only really work to get across one time. If you have to make multiple trips across then it's going to be weird if you always say that.

Glad you liked the post!!!Duckslayer2khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04652305029360078223noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8888632136608037390.post-16532106322743504052011-05-27T04:05:23.043-05:002011-05-27T04:05:23.043-05:00I have a question on one of your first points. Yo...I have a question on one of your first points. You said to know the answer to "why are you coming up to Canada?"

Hypothetically speaking or as a joke ;), what do you think would be good to say to this question? Do you know people that have said they are moving there to play online poker? If you are just visiting i would guess it's much better to name a hotel or something like that. Did you say you were headed for an apartment? This to me seems risky.

One other thought that might work. You could look into saying you are traveling to Prince Rupert to go to Alaska. The Alaska Ferry system is based there and would be a valid reason for a packed car/truck.

Thanks for the info. I got turned down by 6 apartments because of Social Insurance Number issue. The apartment I finally got is shitty. It took 2.5 weeks just to get an apartment Also I cant do wires to my Canadian account so I have to use Moneybookers which sucks because they limit the amount you can withdrawal in a 90 day period. Border patrol will gove you a hard time when you tell them you have an apartment in Canada. They will think you are slinging drugs or working in Canada. So the burden of proof is on you to proof you're not working. There is significant risk that you could do all this work and spend all this money on a place then get your stays restricted by border agents.

SaraboAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8888632136608037390.post-18002241669122702372011-05-24T16:47:36.783-05:002011-05-24T16:47:36.783-05:00Well first off, all of the apartment listings on C...Well first off, all of the apartment listings on Craigslist are scams. That was pretty easy to figure out after they started replying to my inquiries.

Also, in Canada they have this weird "Property Management deals with paperwork and payment" and "bitch worker bee who lives in apartment complex shows place". So it was annoying to set up appointments to view places. Most of the people I called were unwilling to show places after normal business hours or on weekends. This is probably a result of the extremely high occupancy rate... they don't need to work that hard to fill their places.

Thirdly, most of the apartments I looked at were complete shit. Some didn't have air conditioning even. In Winnipeg, most of the buildings are old so you have to ask if they spray for bugs. If they do (like 75% of them do) then you know they have a bug problem... so since I didn't want beetles crawling into my CPU I basically wasted my time looking at like a half dozen places with the bug issue.

Once you find one you actually like and try to rent it you have to fill out an application. On the application they ask for a Canadian S.I.N. number, which is basically the Canadian equivalent of the U.S. SSN. Obviously no one from the U.S. is going to have one and that creates a huge problem for the Management company.

They need someone's S.I.N. number to check their credit, see if they are qualified to rent a place, etc.

Luckily I ended up being OK but I would imagine it's very likely that some people will not get approved for a rental with other management companies because of this problem.Duckslayer2khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04652305029360078223noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8888632136608037390.post-40864066392988328122011-05-24T15:13:17.278-05:002011-05-24T15:13:17.278-05:00What were the specific hurdles to finding an apart...What were the specific hurdles to finding an apartment and how did you overcome them?Sterlinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11864262385476183112noreply@blogger.com
